World Environment Day 5th june

5th June : World Environment Day

"In the universe, are billions of galaxies

In our galaxy, are billions of planets

But there is #OnlyOneEarth

Let's take care of it" by UNEP

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June . It's aim is to save mother earth and make aware in our society about protection of environment from pollutants, chemicals, hazardous wastes etc, as global warming is increasing day by day causing melting of polar ice , rise in sea water level and flood in coastal areas. Global warming causes fire in Forest's as in Australia, India,Africa, America, every where fire cases are arising , Draught cases are arising. Due to increased use of fuels and coals or other fossile fuel's in either transportation, industries, private firms ships planes or elsewhere other , Environment is polluting day by day.

WED established in 1972 by UN General Assembly during Stockholm Assembly Conference. World's first WED celebrated in 1974. It was started to make awareness on environmental changes occurring on earth due to humans as Global warming, air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution etc.

This year Sweedon is hostingWorld Environment Day 2022 . Theme of WED this year is "#OnlyOneEarth " . Idea of Only One Earth is to focus on world's togetherness in direction of creating the atmosphere conductive for peace , harmony , prosperity and health by saving the nature and life . Policy of this theme is to create and adopt a lifestyle which should be pollution free and full of green land .

WED is lead by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and is annually held since 1973.According to UNEP , to keep global warming below 1.5℃ this century, we must halve annual greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

According to UNEP , earth faces triple planetary emergency :

● The climate is heating faster than people and nature to adopt.

● Cause 1 million species to threatened with extinction.

● Pollution poisoning air, land and water.

Some facts according to UNEP

◆ We are using equivalent to 1.6 earths to maintain over current way of life and ecosystem can't keep up with our demand.

◆ Our lifestyles are associated with two third of all greenhouse gas emissions. Sustainable lifestyle and behaviors could reduce our emission by 40 to 70% by 2050.

◆ Sustainable consumption and production can drive economic development, mitigate, climate change, positively impact health and pollution and help eliminate poverty.

India is also celebrating world environment day .

On this occasion Isha foundation organised a program "SAVE SOIL". Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Acharya Sadguru attended the program in New Delhi.

 Modi said

Carbon footprint in the world is average 4 tonne per person annually But in India it is nearly half tonne per person annually. India is working together with other countries to reduce the carbon emission and save environment with a holistic approach.

India's aim is to become Zero Carbon Emission country till 2070. To save soil Indian government giving soil health card to farmers . Atal Bhu Jal Yojna and Microirrigation program making soil better by providing accurate information about soil, weather.

According to PM : India is working on 5 points to save soil.

1. How to make soil chemical free.

2. How to save microorganisms of soil.

3. How to make soil moisturous with average water content.

4. How to save soil from impact of decreasing level of underground water.

5. How to stop soil degradation.

India is working on renovation of 13 rivers . In which water pollution is to be decrease and forests to be planted on the sides of rivers. It is aspected that more than 7400 square kilometer increment will be in Indian forest cover. More than 20000 square kilometer forest cover increased by india in last 8 years.

◆ It is first time that in villages , self-reliance on energy , soil saving and increase income of farmers program interconnected. Under Goverdhan Yojna , Biogas plants are making.

◆ India is making first Agriculture Corridor in nearby villages of Ganga river for Natural Farming.

◆ India is working to restore 26 million Hectare infertile soil to make fertile. Under Ujala Yojna , by using LED bulbs , 40 million tonne carbon emission decreased till now .

Modi announced an achievement " Today India achieved the target of  10% Ethanol blending in petrol , before 5 months to targeted time ."

It's benefits are :

● 27 Lac tonne carbon emission reduced.

● More than 41000 crore rupee saved from foreign reserved currency I import of crude oil.

● In 8 years more than 40000 crore income  earned by farmers.

PM Gati Shakti Master plan helps in reducing carbon emissions and increased betterment of environment.

India is making 75 Amrit Sarovar in every district of every state to increase the underground water level and moisture in soil , He added.
