Ganga Expressway




Uttar pradesh is now going to be a"Express Pradesh" as yesterday Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi Stonelayed the foundation of UPs longest expressway "Ganga Expressway "in Shahjahanpur.

594 KM long Ganga Expressway projects foundation stone layed by Prime minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Aditya Nath in Shahjahanpur.It will be longest expressway of UP .

   It will pass through 12 districts of Up I.e. Meerut,Hapur,Sambhal, Chandausi,Amroha,Budaun, Shahjahanpur,Hardoi,Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, Pryagraj . It will connect Bijauli village on NH-334 in Meerut to Judapur Dandu village on NH-19 in Prayagraj.

    It will be 6 lane green field access controlled expressway.It connects eastern up to western up. 3.5 KM Air strip will also constructed in Shahjahanpur for emergency landing of airforce aircrafts.

   It is expected that the project will complete in 2024 & it is expandable to 8 lane expressway

   Government has decided to extend the project on both ends as Meerut to Haridwar (Spur-1) & Prayagraj to Ballia (Spur-2) via varanasi. It is also planned to construct industrial cooridoor, trauma center,Air ambulance facility.

  From  518 Gram panchayat 7368 hectares land is to be taken from which 80% acquisition is completed . Expressway will pass along side of Ganga river by 10 kms .

The project is divided in 12 package,it will costs 36,200 crores with land acquisition cost of 9,500 crores. 


It's 12 packages are as follows

1. Bijauli(Meerut)-Chandner(Hapur) [48.9km]

2. Chandner(Hapur)-Mirzapur dungal(Amroha)[30.0km]

3. Mirzapur dungal(Amroha)-Nagla baraha(Budaun)[50.7km]

4. Nagla baraha(Budaun)-Binawar(Budaun)[52.1]

5. Binawar(Budaun)-Dari gulau(Shahjahanpur)[46.7km]

6. Dari gulami(Shahjahanpur)-Ubariya khurd(Hardoi)[52.9km]

7. Ubariya khurd ( Hardoi)-Iksai(Hardoi)[52.4km]

8. Iksai(Hardoi)-Raiya mao(Unnao)[50.2km]

9. Raiya mao(Unnao)-Sarson(Unnao)[53.1km]

10. Sarson(Unnao)-Terukha(Raebareli)[51.8]

11. Terukha(Raebareli)-Naudhiya(Pratapgarh)[52.0]

12. Naudhiya(Pratapgarh)-Judapur dandu(Prayagraj)[53.0km]


    Till now 340 km  Purvanchal expressway is the India's longest expressway & Agra-Lucknow expressway is the second one. UPEIDA(Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority) will manage it's construction, it will connect greater noida to ballia.

In next some years up will have Bundelkhand expressway, Gorakhpur link expressway, Ballia link expressway also .

Ganga expressway was firstly launched in 2007 by then UP CM Smt. Mayawati ji but due to highcourt's stay about environment issue it could not be completed.
